Pawcatuck, CT, May 16, 2011, Walter Robinson, Subwright for General Dynamics Electric Boat, has been recognized by Elite American Engineers for dedication, achievements and leadership in submarine maintenance.
Mr. Robinson has maintained a successful 36-year career in submarine maintenance at General Dynamics Electric Boat as a result of his work ethic, personal attitude and knowledge of the industry. His expertise in welding has garnered him many awards and positions of responsibility. The pipe welding and engineering department sent Mr. Robinson a letter of appreciation for his precision and accuracy concerning 118 weld joints, of which only one was rejected upon inspection. In addition to his work for General Dynamics Electric Boat, Mr. Robinson spent 11 years lending his services to the Naval Submarine Support Facility. Again, he received many commendations for his professionalism and high-quality work, including a letter of appreciation from the U.S. Navy, which resulted in his promotion to supervisor of the facility. He started in welding as part of a state program following his graduation from high school.
Outside of his profession, Mr. Robinson supports United Way International and the Congregational Church, who he volunteers with as Santa Claus during the holidays. Furthermore, he maintains his enthusiasm for maritime vessels as a member of The Westerly Yacht Club.
