MONTEBELLO, CA, August 2, 2012, Jesse Phillip Loera, MBA, BSEE, Communications Engineer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been recognized by Elite American Public Servants for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law enforcement engineering.

Mr. Loera presently works for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a wireless communications engineer. Prior to his current assignment, he worked at Jet Propulsion Laboratory on NASA and Air Force wide area communications networks. Before he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, he served on the Board of Directors of a Community Relations Center established by Cal State University Los Angeles as a catalyst to improve the socio-economic status of residents living in the East Los Angeles area. One of the programs that evolved from this center was the FCC filing for the establishment of a non-profit bi-lingual educational radio station (KSOY-FM) that was filed by the Mexican-American Communications Foundation, Inc., in which he served as its Chief Executive Officer. Following graduation, he became involved with Progress for Youth Organization, Inc., a volunteer group operating in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood of City Terrace where one of his contributions was the creation of the organization’s logo. At PYO he developed and implemented public service announcements that were broadcast both in radio and television. Mr. Loera helped establish the first broadcast station while attending the renowned college. He is currently involved in planning the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System, which will enable rapid interagency coordination among law enforcement, fire service professionals, and health service professionals in response to routine, emergency and catastrophic events.

Thanks to his PSA experience at PYO, Mr. Loera was appointed National Chairman for Publicity for the Society of Hispanic Engineers, Inc. Later he Later he was elected Regional Vice-President for the organization and during his tenure he wrote the famous phrase “Together We Can Make A Difference” which was first used by the incoming National President as part of his acceptance speech, and later published in the organization’s national magazine. For his involvement with SHPE, he was recognized as one of the “Outstanding Young Americans”, and inducted into the “Who’s Who in America” registry. During the 1990s he obtained his Real Estate Broker’s License, and his most recent volunteer work involved serving as the Chairman of the Entertainment Committee for APCO’s Western Regional Conference held in Long Beach, CA in February 2007.
