BOSTON, MA, October 26, 2012, Dennis Correia, CEO of Correia Construction Ltd., has been recognized by Elite American Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction services.

Mr. Correia has consulted for both the Bermuda and the United States governments for projects in Bermuda. He consulted on a regular basis with the United States, particularly in connection with the Swing Bridge and Longbird Bridge about mechanical failures and upkeep. He was instrumental in the design and building of the Fast Ferry Docks and Terminals, Hamilton Depot, Hamilton Terminal, Rockaway, Dockyard and Saint Georges. In addition, he has consulted with Danac Inc., Denmark, U.S. Navy pier rehabilitation, the Department of Air Operations, water-based runway lights rehabilitation, the Department of Environment, the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom, a nuclear submarine docking facility, and dredging and removal of hazardous materials. He also worked on the complete design and building of Dolphin Quest USA at Fairmont Southampton Princess Bermuda; this facility has withstood all hurricanes in the last five years.

In addition to these initiatives, Mr. Correia built an oil tanker-berthing facility for Esso Exxon Mobile. The company built number 5 and 6 docks in Hamilton, the initial stage of the cruise ship dock at Dockyard, the redesign after security measures were implemented after Sept. 11th, and repair work following hurricanes Fabian and Florence. He also built Ordinance Island and the cruise ship dock, as well as modifications to that dock as a result of more modern cruise ships. More recently, he was consulted as an engineer in Cuba, Florida, Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas in respect of breakwaters, commercial docks and marinas. In 2009, the company was approached by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines to build and redesign a dock in Roatan Honduras to dock the world’s largest cruise ship. He bid for this job, and was awarded the project. In this regard, the company is working in Roatan on this project. The company has also recently partnered with SAL trading to incorporate a company in Saint Kitts called C.H. Caribbean Construction Company Ltd., in order to build homes, as well as tender other projects in the islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

For his demonstrations of excellence as an outstanding engineer, Mr. Correia has received a number of awards and accolades over the course of a successful 40-year spanning career, and he continues to strive for excellence in his every endeavor. He received the Tiger Performance Award for Best Overall Performance in Service Station Construction and Maintenance in the Caribbean and Central America in both 2006 and 2007. Through many high points in his professional career, Mr. Correia pinpoints the highlight of his career as his consulting for the Bermuda government in connection with the design and construction of Heritage Wharf, a $52 million project that enabled Bermuda to accommodate mega-cruise ships. He attributes his success to his virtue, reputation and ability to overcome challenges.
